Tales From The Fire

Storytellers Carol Scorer, Peter Vallance and Margot Henderson invite you to an evening of stories that have been born from the fire, and that we hope will bring you wisdom, healing and transformation.

An evening of stories working with Peter Vallance, Margot Henderson and Carol Scorer, as part of the Right To be Human theme of this year`s festival.
Stories of transformation and rebirth, hope and wisdom were told this storytelling trio.
Carol told two stories:

This is my version of a story about death I have only heard from Scottish Traveller storyteller Duncan Williamson, round a campfire, many years ago. Huge respect to the tradition bearers of the spoken word. Do the dead grieve if we forgot them? Are they tethered to earth if we do not let them go …?

I also told a version of a Russian folk story of the Firebird and Princess Vassalisa, interwoven with percussion and drums. “One of my favourite characters of all stories – the wise talking horse: “ but this is not the worse trouble. The worst is yet to come…”

I have a feeling that horses have yet much much more to say if only we can listen.

The Visitor

Do the dead grieve if we forgot them? Are they tethered to earth if we do not let them go …?

To live in this world
You must able to do three things:
To love what is mortal;
To hold it
against you bones Knowing
your own life depends on it ;
and when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go.
